To be brutally honest, Club Penguin’s original artwork left a lot to be desired. Rooms were wide and spacious, but also very empty and bland. All the buildings looked two dimensional with shaky lines and many things (such as the seats outside the Coffee Shop) simply weren’t sized properly for the penguins that would use them.

Thankfully, from late 2012 to early 2013, the Club Penguin Team completely overhauled the graphics of the game. Almost every room was given an update and those that weren’t would quickly be updated in the years to come.

These updates fixed all the problems of the old rooms. They made everything look more three dimensional, resized everything so that penguins could actually interact with them and found interesting ways to break up the wide, empty expanses. Unfortunately, because of the chat bar, map, spy phone, moderation badge, newspaper, mail, chat log and various catalogues that cover your screen, there are many details in these rooms that can’t be seen in game.

This post will be devoted to all the hidden things that you never knew existed in different rooms around the island, and I’ll throw in a few interesting details that can be seen but are often overlooked, too.
Let’s start with the Mystery Attic. This room contained so many strange objects representing mysteries from around the island, it’s unsurprising that some of them have ended up completely hidden by the chat bar. The portal to the Box Dimension is the lowest thing that you can normally see in this room, but there’s actually a stack of boxes emblazoned with the Recycling Plant logo that sit lower than it.

The Everyday Phoning Facility also has a few hidden decorations. Firstly, there’s a secret garden hidden under the chat bar. It’s unfortunate that the majority of this garden is hidden as it ties together the other plants dotted around the room and gives the whole room a more serene, peaceful look.

This isn’t the only detail in the Everyday Phoning Facility that’s covered up. If you look at the roof above the entrance to the EPF Command Room, you can see what appears to be a ring of circular lights. Because this decal is partially obscured by the chat log in game, it’s a bit harder to realise that this isn’t actually a ring of lights, but the dial of a rotary telephone.

A funny detail that you might have missed in the same room is that this desk near the bottom of the room is entirely surrounded by mugs of coffee. This detail is visible in game, but since lots of penguins just pass through to get straight to the EPF Headquarters, not many people tend to notice it.

The Everyday Phoning Facility also has a hidden aerial that sits to the left of the building. This aerial can’t actually be seen from the Ski Village, but it can be seen from the Beach and the Dock.

But the Everyday Phoning Facility isn’t the only room that has a hidden garden – the Puffle Hotel also has one hidden behind the chat bar. It’s not as big as the one in the Everyday Phoning Facility, and it doesn’t fit in as well, but it’s a welcome addition to the room anyway.

The Pizza Parlor has another hidden decoration; if you look at the bottom left corner, you can just make out some boxes that are mostly covered by the map. Unfortunately, the label showing that the boxes contain stock such as red liquorice is hidden from view. It’s unfortunate that this can’t be seen in game as it would be a really cool reference to the hidden ‘Candytron 3000’ mode of Pizzatron 3000.

And this isn’t the only overlooked detail in the Pizza Parlor; at the back you can see a collection of sports gear. What many people don’t realise is that there is exactly one item of clothing for each team (a yellow foam finger for team yellow, a green football jersey for team green, a red ball cap for team red and a blue football helmet for team blue). Unfortunately, this cool detail was removed within a year to make space for a puffle snack station.

Those are the hidden details that I managed to find around the island, but there are definitely more. If you know of any others, or would just like to see a part 2 to this post, feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments below, but until next time,

I like the old design of the buildings of Club Penguin, but I did find the problem of furniture being too big quite annoying.
Club Penguin Rewritten reverted to the old art style, but I’d like them to redraw some of the rooms to fix the issue.

I agree. One of my least favourite pre-update rooms is the Pizza Parlor: its update gave it an extra 13 seats, but in the original, seating was always a problem as there were only six chairs…
